IMMUNITY MAP
"Our constructions of reality are actually assumptions; they may well be true, but they also may not be."
An immunity map is a powerful tool for someone who is looking to break a habit or make meaningful change by unlocking the root cause behind habits and behaviors.
Maybe you have been hearing the same feedback throughout your life, but you are finding it hard to make the change. Often these behaviors are rooted in some sort of fear or unconscious "Big Assumption."
By becoming aware of these fears we get to the "Why" of our behaviors.
As authors and model originators Kegan & Lahey (2009) state: "we call them big assumptions because they are not currently viewed as 'assumptions' at all...They may be true, and they may not be, but as long as we simply assume they are true, we are blind to the question itself" (p. 58). Once we can prove that our Big Assumptions actually are not (fully) true, they can (often slowly) start to release their grip over us.
